Bayou Classic® Sausage Smashburgers

Buttery biscuit buns meet crispy-edged sausage patties and melty American cheese for the ultimate handheld breakfast burger.

For the Biscuit Buns

  1. Preheat a Bayou Classic 10.5-in Reversible Griddle over low heat until hot and lightly butter the surface.
  2. Split each biscuit in half lengthwise to make 16 flat rounds and place biscuit halves on the griddle.
  3. Cook until the bottoms are golden brown. Flip and cook the other side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Remove from griddle and set aside.

For the Sausage Smash Patties

  1. Preheat a Bayou Classic 10-in Cast Iron Skillet over medium-high heat until fully hot.
  2. Roll sausage into 16 balls, each about 2 oz. Place 2 sausage balls at a time into the skillet, spaced apart.
  3. Press each ball down with a Bayou Classic Bacon Press to about ½ inch thick, then press the edges thinner to get crispy edges.
  4. Cook until edges are browned and crisp, then scrape from the pan and flip with a spatula.
  5. Immediately add a slice of American cheese to each patty after flipping. Once cheese is melted, stack two patties to create one double smashburger.

To Assemble

Place each double sausage smashburger between two biscuit halves. Serve hot!
